Characteristics of Student Achievement
An "A" Student:

- is a superior student [93-100 grade point average (GPA)]
- completes all assigned tasks, both in class and at home, in a timely manner with high regard for quality
- is rarely absent or tardy
- should have no unexcused absences or tardies
- if absences occur, the student voluntarily requests make up work and completes such work within a short period of time (due dates determined by teacher and student together)
- is always prepared for class having all necessary materials (paper, pen/pencil, and required materials for class and/or projects)
- actively participates positively in class work, group work, and individual workgives feedback, demonstrates leadership, and contributes positive ideas and is always on-task
- usually earns A’s on tests and assignments
- has mature behavior, is always appropriate, and demonstrates self-controlis constantly working on and up to date on their portfolio
- is an above-average student [85-92 grade point average (GPA)]
- completes at least 90% of assigned tasks, both in class and at home, in a timely manner with high regard for quality
- is rarely absent or tardyshould have no unexcused absences or tardiesif absences occur, the student voluntarily requests make up work and completes such work within a short period of time (due dates determined by teacher and student together)
- is always prepared for class having all necessary materials (paper, pen/pencil, and required materials for class and/or projects)
- consistently participates in a positive manner to class work, group work, and individual workgives feedback, an eagerness to learn to lead others, contributes positive ideas and is always on-task
- usually earns B’s on tests and assignmentshas mature behavior, is usually appropriate, and usually demonstrates self-control
- is constantly working on and up to date on their portfolio
- is an average student [76-84 grade point average (GPA)]
- completes at least 80% of assigned tasks, both in class and at home, in a timely manner with regard for good quality
- if absences occur, the student is expected to voluntarily request make up work, but in the event he or she does not, the teacher will request a conference with the student to design a plan to complete the make up work
- should have no unexcused absences or tardiesis usually prepared for class including paper, pen/pencil, and necessary materials for class work or projects
- generally participates positively in class work, group work, and individual work
- will give feedback if requested to, generally works well in groups and does not hinder the group progress or completion of assigned task, is willing to do his/her share of group work, contributes positive ideas, and is usually on task
- usually earns C’s on tests and assignments
- has average behavior. Disruptive behavior is not expected and is always corrected verbally. Time-outs, removals, and detentions are very rare.
- is usually up to date on their portfolio and rarely needs reminders and motivations
- is a below-average student [70-75 grade point average (GPA)]
- completes at least 70% of assigned tasks, both in class and at home
- does not meet deadlines for assignments and projects, and does not demonstrate regard for good quality work
- usually has unexcused absences or tardieswhen absences occur, the student usually does not ask for make-up work and it is necessary for the teacher to automatically schedule a conference to work on a plan for completion or work; the make up work is generally received beyond the deadline if at all is often not prepared for class including paper, pen/pencil, and necessary materials for class work or projects
- only occasionally contributes positively in class work, group work, and individual work
- usually doesn’t give feedback even when asked, does not contribute positively to group success, is usually not on task, and rarely contributes ideas
- usually earns D’s on tests and assignments
- may have disruptive behaviors which are usually corrected verbally, but may occasionally invoke time-outs or removals. Detentions are rare.
- is often behind on their portfolio work and requires reminders and outside motivation
- is not passing the course [below 70 grade point average (GPA)]
- is a student who fails to complete 70% of assigned tasks, in class and at home
- does not meet deadlines for assignments and projects, and does not demonstrate any regard for quality work
- usually has unexcused absences and tardies
- when absences occur, the student usually fails to ask for make-up work and after a conference with teacher fails to complete make up work is usually not prepared for class including paper, pen/pencil, and materials for class work or projects
- does not contribute positively in class work, group work, and individual work, rarely gives feedback, and is rarely on task
- usually earns below 70% on tests and assignments
- may have disruptive behaviors which usually invoke detentions, time-outs, and/or removal from group work or classroom as a consequence
- is often behind on their portfolio work and requires constant reminders and motivation
