Homework Mon. 10/30

Todays homework is pg. 102-104, #1, 2, and 3 and pg. 105, #1. For extra credit, pg. 106, #3.
In class we worked with variables and examined the relationship between two variables as we looked for patterns. Be able to describe patterns such as "As price increase, the number of customers decreases". Be able to graph the relationship on a x-y coordinate graph.
Using the data collected from the bungee apparatus, we were able to produce a graph and a best fit line drawn by hand through the graphed data points. From this line we were able to find the equation using y=[y-intercept] + [slope] * x form.

In Class Thurs. 10/26

Today we used a model of a bungee apparatus to begin our examination of Unit 2 Pattern of Change. Using pg. 99-100, #1-4, we collected data that suggested a pattern relating to variables we modeled. We made a table and graphs of the data to look for patterns. We defined and found y-intercepts and slopes of lines. This investigation will continue on Monday. Using your graphs try to find your y-intercept and slope of the line from your own data.

Homework Fri. 10/20

Today we prepared for the Unit 1 Assessment (Patterns in Data) which will be on Tuesday.
For Tuesday, you need your completed concept map of topics to use on the assessment, your city ratings report and visual display(s) (pg. 94, #2) and your completed homework questions for the last part of the unit.

Homework Wed. 10/18

Today we continued to work on the concept map for Unit 1 topics, which you can use on the exam next Tuesday and the homework pages from last class. We also started pg. 94, #2, for which you need to write a short report on which of the twelve given cities you think should be rated highest, using suitable plots, graphs, and statistics to support your choice. As an assignment which uses all of the topics we have covered during the first weeks of school, this written report and supporting plot(s) will allow you to analyze and evaluate data efficiently.

Homework Mon. 10/16

Todays homework is to finish your Unit 1 concept maps, and pg. 82, #3, pg. 87, #4, pg. 88, #5, pg. 89, #1 and ex. credit pg. 92, #1 (bottom of page) . These pages should be finished and passed in by the end of class on Wednesday. The concept map need to be completed by Friday.

Homework Thurs. 10/12

Today we analyzed the topics from Unit 1, Patterns in Data, and began to examine Concept Mapping. For Homework, create a concept map of your design using the 3-page handout you recieved of Unit 1 topics.

You can use this concept map tool on your test, so including lots of accurate detail, definitions, and examples will really help you out.

Homework Tues. 10/10

Todays homework is pg. 76-77, #2 and 3.
Today we created scatterplots on an x-y axis using the calculator, and used the ordered pairs (x,y) to look for associations or relationships between the two coordinates and for patterns or trends. By creating a y = x line on the same graph, we were able to see points where x and y coordinates had the same values (y = x), where x was less than y (x < y), and where x was greater than y (x > y).

Assessment Wed. 10/4

Be ready for the assessment test over Unit 1 Lesson 3. Understand the vocabulary and application from this section:
Mean, Median, Mode.
Range, Interquartile Range (IQR), and Mean Absolute Deviation (MAD).
The five-number summary of data:
minimum, lower quartile or quartile 1 (Q1), median, upper quartile or quartile 3 (Q3), and maximum.
Percentiles and quartiles.
Create and understand a box and whisker plot.
