Today we folded nets into three dimensional polyhedra, creating a tetrahedron, octahedron, icosahedron, and cube from page 394, using the provided handouts.

Homework Wed. 4/11

Today we continued work due Friday 4/13 on pg. 374-376, #3 through #9. In class we worked on msad56.agilemind.com on the Geometry section, Topic #13 Pythagoras Theorem and topic #31, Area Formula. Read through each of the sections. The multiple choice guided assessment is optional.

There will be the assessment over Unit 5, Lesson 1 and 2 on Friday.
Be prepared to sketch on square and isometric dot paper 2-D and 3-D projections. Also be able to use the Pythagoras Theorem to solve problems and find perimeter, circumference, area, volume, lateral area, and surface area for shapes such as triangles, squares, rectangles, parallelograms, rhombus, trapezoid, kite, circle, prisms, pyramid, cylinder, cone, and sphere.

Homework Tues. 4/3

Todays homework is pg. 357-358, #4 and 5, using the handout provided of the various shapes, find the perimeter and area of each of the shapes. In class we examined the types of geometric shapes and their features that must me recognized in this lesson. Using a formula sheet like (http://www.pen.k12.va.us/VDOE/Assessment/Manipulatives/GEOMETRY_BP2003.pdf)
is also useful for finding the perimeter, circumference, area, surface area, lateral area, and volume of geometric shapes. By the end of the unit, be able to identify the shapes and their descriptions/features.

Vocabulary to know: Triangle, Quadrilateral, Square, Rectangle, Parallelogram, Rhombus, Trapezoid, Kite, Pyramid, Prism, Sphere, Cylinder, and Cone.

Be sure to measure, calculate, and describe using appropriate units.
