Today we used the second edition handout to review for the assessment on Thursday. In class we worked on population calculations using recursion with calculators as well as without that feature. We also worked on tables, graphs, sentence description of pattern of change, next=now and y = a+bx equations to highlight pattern of change problems.

You should then prepare for the assessment on Monday over Lessons 1, 2, and 3. Be able to describe a pattern from a table (As x changes _____, y changes _____, starting at___). Be able to read or plot on an x-y axis graph or scatterplot. Identify rates of change from a table or graph. Write equations in NEXT=NOW format or y = a + bx format. Find the % of a number.

Homework is pg. 122, #1,2,3,4,5 and 6. We will complete the work in class on Monday. Today we worked on pg. 122-124, looking at how the balance owed on an installment plan changes over the time period of paying off the balance and began the Palace Theater problem.

Homework Wed 11/2

Today after answering questions on installment buying, we worked pg. 122-125, #1,2,3,4, and homework will be working on #5, 6, and 7. No graphs, just tables, equations and answer questions. We will produce graphs using the graphing calculators in class, to finish the Palace Theater question.

Homework Tues 11/1

Be able to describe associations (relationships) between two variables using written sentences. We worked with variables and examined the relationship between two variables as we looked for patterns. Be able to describe patterns such as "As price increase, the number of customers decreases at a decreasing rate". Be able to graph the relationship on a x-y coordinate graph. For Homework do pg. 137, #4b and 4f. Find pattern of change in the data set, describe it in a sentence, Next=Now equation and y = a + bx form equation.
