In class and HW Thurs 2/28

Today we worked on completing the 3rd part of the plain geometry packets which involved solving problems written as word sentences. It may help many to draw a picture of the shape, label the parts that are known, and use it with the appropriate formulas to solve the problem.

In class and HW Wed 2/27

Today we worked on the 2nd of 3 handout packets where you solved problems finding lengths, widths, and areas of non-regular geometric shapes or irregular shapes made up of multiple known geometry figures. Use your formula sheet to find the missing information from the known information.

In class and HW Tues 2/26

Today we worked on the 2nd of 3 handout packets where you solved problems finding lengths, widths, and areas of non-regular geometric shapes or irregular shapes made up of multiple known geometry figures. Use your formula sheet to find the missing information from the known information.

In class Mon 2/25

Today we started by creating tessellations by rotation methods of a figure and drew the resulting pattern. Check this website for an explanation of technique. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pW3rzNtO9oE We also did the first of 3 handout packets where today we were solving problems involving basic geometric shapes, finding missing lengths, widths, or areas.

In class Thurs 2/14

Today we began with using transformations of shapes drawn on an x-y axis. Be able to translate, reflect, rotate, and dilate a given shape. We then worked on creating tessellations by translating a figure across a page.

In class Mon 2/11

Today we started with a review of types of angles from 2 parallel lines cut by a transversal line and properties of quadrilaterals (homework: finish the properties boxes from the handout) and then worked on samples of problems from the handout packet on circumference, perimeter, area, and surface area.

In class and HW Fri 2/1

Today we began Unit 5 on Geometry and Measurement with the rubric, formula sheet, and vocabulary sheet. After some review of some basic geometry concepts, we worked on finding the measurements of angles using a handout package. For homework do the problems on pg. 49 and 50.
