Homework Mon 2/28

Today we started using isometric projections on pg. 341-342, #1 and 2. In order to visualize 2D and 3D objects we used cubes to construct the objects from views such as Front, Top, and Right sides. Isometric and square dot paper are required to draw your three dimensional and two dimensional projections.

which allows you to do depictions of 3-dimensional objects.

Starting in class, but continuing for homework, do the handout packet on work involving angles and triangles.

Vocabulary: Acute Angles, Obtuse Angles, Right Angles, Complementary and Supplementary Angles, Vertical Angles, Corresponding Angles, Alternate Exterior Angles, Alternate Interior Angles, Transversal Line.

Homework Fri 2/18

Today we continued Unit 5 Patterns in Space by classifying and constructing models of space-shapes. In Class we worked on pg. 333, #8 then did the resource handout on polygons identification and prism/pyramid description of features.

Vocabulary:
Plane-shape - two-dimensional shape
Space-shape - three-dimensional shape
solid - 3-dimensional object with filled interior
shell - 3-dimensional object with an empty interior
net - flat diagram that can be folded to make a 3-dimensional shell
skeleton - 3-dimensional frame that shows the edges and vertices of an object
prism - two polygon bases (top and bottom) with rectangular sides
pyramid - polygon base with triangular sides
polygon - closed plane figure with edges created out of line segments that meet at vertices

In Class Wed 2/16

Today we examined Discrete Math problems, looking for optimal (best) solutions. For homework do the packet provided. Euler Paths traced each edge of the Vertex-Edge Graph exactly once, completing the shape. The Euler Circuits were Euler Paths that could be drawn, including beginning and ending at the same point. We also worked on mapping problems using four colors or less.
