In Class Fri 2/26

Today we began Unit 5 Patterns in Space by classifying and constructing models of space-shapes. We constructed pillars to hold the most weight and found that the cylinder was the strongest. In Class we worked on pg. 333, #8, which we will complete in class on Tuesday.

Vocabulary:
Plane-shape - two-dimensional shape
Space-shape - three-dimensional shape
solid - 3-dimensional object with filled interior
shell - 3-dimensional object with an empty interior
net - flat diagram that can be folded to make a 3-dimensional shell
skeleton - 3-dimensional frame that shows the edges and vertices of an object
prism - two polygon bases (top and bottom) with rectangular sides
pyramid - polygon base with triangular sides
polygon - closed plane figure with edges created out of line segments that meet at vertices
cube
triangular prism
square prism
pentagonal prism
hexagonal prism
triangular pyramid

In class Wed 2/24

With the substitute today, you worked on Aleks.com

Monday, February 22, 2010

In Class Mon 2/22

Today we examined Discrete Math problems, looking for optimal (best) solutions. For homework do the packet provided. Euler Paths traced each edge of the Vertex-Edge Graph exactly once, completing the shape. The Euler Circuits were Euler Paths that could be drawn, including beginning and ending at the same point. We also worked on mapping problems using four colors or less.

In class Thurs 2/11

Today we did the assessment to finish Unit 3 on solving systems of equations using graphing and substitution methods and used these ideas to solve problems.

Tuesday, February 09, 2010

In Class Tues 2/9

Today we used a review handout to practice solving systems of equations using the graphing method and substitution method. In class we did the selected problems on the handouts to prepare for the assessment on Thursday.

Friday, February 05, 2010

In class & homework Fri 2/5

Today we practiced solving systems of equations using the graphing and substitution methods on the two puzzle handouts. Solve at least six of the problems.

Homework Mon 2/1

Today we began work on solving Systems of Linear Equations problems and for homework, pg. 226-228, #1,2,3, begun in class, then #4 and the OYO problem.
