Today we created exponential models of growth and decay by doing the experiments with popcorn kernels on pg. 461-463 experiments 1 and 2. Use the handout to fill in your results. We also used exponential regression to create the models and used the model to predict growth or decay values for given steps.
Today we worked on exponential decay problems using golf balls bouncing from pg. 440 #1 and 2, and then did the investigation on Half-Life and exponential decay, using the handouts on insulin, from pg. 445, #1-5.
Today in class we worked on exponential decay problems. We began examining exponential decay, pg. 440-441, the golf ball bounce problem taking measurements with bouncy balls to determine the elasticity. Use the provided handout to complete pg. 440-441, #1 and 2.
Today we looked at simple exponential growth models of the form y=a(2^x) and y = a(3^x) through tables, graphs, and symbolic rules. We also compared the exponential growth models to linear models. Be able to depict an exponential growth problem by describing the pattern of growth using Next=Now and in y = format. In class we worked on pg. 425, #1, 2, and 5. For exponential growth practice, homework is on pg. 426, #7 and pg 428-429, #5.
